Privacy Policy

We collect the following data to operate the Service.

Forager mobile app:

• Accounts: a service-generated user ID, email and display name when provided, authentication information, and optional birthday month and day. Guest sessions also have an ID and can store activity. Passwords, where used, are handled by our authentication provider.
• Location: your selected city or market and saved coordinates. With your permission, device location helps show nearby offers and maps. You can choose a city instead and change device permissions at any time.
• Activity: favorite restaurants, saved deals, collections, deal unlocks, claims, sponsored redemptions, preferences, and calculated savings.
• Purchases: subscription products, transaction identifiers, purchase history and entitlement status used to provide, restore, and analyze Forager Pro. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
• Notifications: an optional push token, notification preferences, timezone, and delivery status, used to deliver the notifications you enable.
• Optional audience insights: adults may consent to provide an age range and gender identity. The under-18 choice is excluded from demographic reporting. Partner summaries use groups of at least 100 and exclude names, email addresses, and precise coordinates.
• Technical data: network and device information, IP addresses, service-generated identifiers, app interactions, crash and diagnostic information processed by infrastructure, map, subscription, and notification providers to operate, secure, measure, and troubleshoot their services.

The camera is optional and reads redemption QR codes on your device. Forager does not upload camera photos or record microphone audio. Restaurant websites and directions may open external services with their own privacy policies.

Information you provide:

• Mobile phone number and consent record — when you sign up for Forager text alerts on our website, we collect the phone number you enter, together with a record of your opt-in: the date and time you checked the consent box, the version of the consent language you agreed to, and your IP address and device information, kept as proof of consent.
• Contact information — if you email us or contact support, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
• Location preferences — if you later provide a city or ZIP code to receive deals near you, we store that preference with your subscription.

Automatically collected:

• Technical data — browser type, device type, operating system, IP address, and similar signals used to run the site, secure it, and prevent abuse (for example, blocking automated fake signups).
• Usage data — pages visited and aggregate interaction patterns used to improve the product. We do not use advertising trackers on this site.
• Approximate location — we may derive an approximate city/region from your IP address to surface nearby deals.

• To send you the SMS food-deal alerts you signed up for, including a welcome/confirmation message.
• To maintain a record of your opt-in consent, as required by telecommunications regulations.
• To operate, secure, and improve the website and alert service, and to prevent abuse.
• To respond when you contact us for support.
• To show nearby offers, sync saved activity, validate redemptions, maintain account security, and provide or restore paid access.
• To personalize offers and notifications from your preferences and produce consented, aggregated audience insights.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your phone number for any purpose other than the Forager alerts and service messages you signed up for, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Forager operates a recurring SMS program (“Forager Free Food Alerts”). By checking the consent box and submitting your phone number on our website, you expressly consent to receive recurring automated marketing text messages from Forager at that number, including a sign-up confirmation and free-food deal alerts. The consent box is never pre-checked, and consent is not a condition of any purchase.

• Message frequency varies (typically a few messages per week once alerts are live).
• Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
• Opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive a single final message confirming your opt-out, after which no further messages will be sent.
• Get help by replying HELP to any message, or by emailing hello@getforager.app.
• Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• The program is intended for U.S. residents aged 18 or older (or minors using a number with the consent of a parent or guardian).

No SMS mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of information described in this policy exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; that information will not be shared with, sold to, or rented to any third party, except for the messaging service providers we use solely to deliver the messages you requested, and except where disclosure is required by law.

App account and saved activity data are kept while you use the account, unless you remove them sooner. Notification delivery records expire after 90 days and notification deduplication records after 30 days through daily cleanup. Deleting the account removes its live profile, saved activity, notification tokens and delivery records, and user-specific deduplication records.

Account deletion also queues deletion of your RevenueCat customer record. Cleanup runs every ten minutes and retries provider failures. A temporary account ID is retained only until RevenueCat confirms deletion, then removed. Infrastructure backups and operational logs expire according to the providers’ retention cycles and are not used to restore a deleted account for normal operation. Google Play and Apple may independently retain purchase records under their own policies.

App and website connections use encryption in transit. Access to account data is restricted to authorized systems and personnel. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection.

Your phone number and consent record are stored in our backend infrastructure, hosted with U.S. cloud providers, with access restricted to systems that operate the alert service.

We retain subscription data while your subscription is active. If you opt out by replying STOP, we suppress your number from future sends; we may retain a minimal record of the number and its opt-out status so that we never message it again, and consent/opt-out logs may be retained as required for legal and compliance purposes. You may request full deletion at any time (see Section 8).

Non-identifying preferences may be stored in your browser’s localStorage and never leave your device.

• Supabase: accounts, authentication, app data, and backend functions.
• RevenueCat, Google Play, and Apple: subscription validation, purchase analytics, entitlement management, payments, and purchase restoration.
• Google Maps: Android maps, including device/network metadata, pseudonymous SDK identifiers, map interactions, and diagnostics used by the Maps SDK.
• Expo and platform notification services: push-token processing and delivery of enabled notifications.
• Resend and Vercel: account email delivery and website hosting.

Sponsored offers are labeled in the app. We do not provide partners with your email, name, or precise coordinates for advertising. Consented demographic insights are shared only in aggregated reports with a minimum group size of 100.

We rely on a small number of third-party providers to run Forager. Their roles depend on the service:

• Website hosting and infrastructure — our website and database run on U.S.-based cloud providers.
• Text-message delivery — SMS messages are delivered through a third-party messaging platform, which processes your phone number solely to deliver the messages you requested.
• Deal and offer data — Forager aggregates publicly available promotional information from restaurants and chains. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any restaurant or chain unless explicitly stated; their names and logos are used for identification purposes only.

This site does not use third-party advertising trackers or sell data to data brokers.

Forager uses only essential cookies and browser storage: session and security cookies needed to operate the site, and localStorage for non-sensitive UI preferences. You may block or clear these through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not function correctly without them.

Delete your Forager account

In the app, open You → Delete account and confirm. If you cannot use the app, email hello@getforager.app from your account email with the subject “Delete my Forager account.” We may verify account ownership; never send passwords, sign-in links, or one-time codes. Full instructions and retained-data details are on our account deletion page.

Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple or Google Play subscription. Cancel it separately in your store subscription settings. You can also request deletion of specific personal data without deleting the account by contacting support.

Depending on your state of residence — including under laws such as the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Virginia CDPA, Colorado CPA, and similar statutes — you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain data uses.

• We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
• We use the providers described in Section 6 to operate, secure, and measure the Service.
• You may exercise any of these rights — including requesting deletion of your phone number — by emailing hello@getforager.app. We may need to verify your identity (for example, by confirming control of the phone number) before fulfilling a request.

Forager is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify subscribers by text or post a notice on the site. Continued use of Forager after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
